In Game 1 of the two-game tourney, the Coyotes rookies stormed back from a 6-3 deficit after two periods for a come-from-behind, 8-7 win over the Kings rookies on Wednesday night at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo, California, the Kings’ practice facility.
After strong first and second periods by the Kings rookies, they took the third period off, leaving goaltender Christopher Gibson to fend for himself while they allowed five straight goals before the Kings scored their lone goal of the period with just three seconds left in the game.
Gibson started the third period after Martin Jones played in the first and second periods.
Game 2 is scheduled for Thursday, September 15, 2011, at 2:00 PM PDT, also at the Toyota Sports Center.
