LOS ANGELES — Despite the fact that the Los Angeles Kings came-from-ahead to lose to the Chicago Blackhawks, 5-3, on the afternoon of March 3, that did not damper the mood at Tip A King 2018, held across the street from Staples Center in Microsoft Square at L.A. Live.

The annual event, in which fans “tip” the players, coaches, broadcasters and alumni for photographs and/or autographs, raises thousands of dollars each year for the Kings Care Foundation.

EL SEGUNDO AND LOS ANGELES, CA — On January 3, despite having suffered a very frustrating 7-6 overtime loss to the Nashville Predators at Staples Center in Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Kings had to quickly recover from the sting of that defeat so they could meet and have some fun with fans at Tip A King 2015, held across the street at the LA Live Event Deck.

The Kings announced that the event has raised a record $300,000 (and they are still counting receipts) for the Kings Care Foundation.

Each year at Tip A King, players, coaches and broadcasters sign autographs and take photos with fans. But every year, something happens that stands out more than others, and this year’s event was no exception, thanks to defenseman Alec Martinez, a ten-year-old fan, and a photo of the two that has spread pretty widely on social media.

LOS ANGELES — Since the Los Angeles Kings won the Stanley Cup for the first time in the 45-year history of the franchise on June 11, 2012, the storied trophy has been on a whirlwind tour.

From Kings team/staff parties that same night, to the Championship Parade and Rally on June 14, to Las Vegas, Venice Beach, back to Las Vegas for the National Hockey League Awards, to Pittsburgh for the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, back to Southern California’s Hermosa Beach, a party hosted by Hall of Fame broadcaster Bob Miller…you get the idea.

The Stanley Cup will continue to have a heavy travel schedule for the rest of the summer. But odds are that it will not have a more meaningful stop than it did on June 28, when it lifted the Read more of this post
