Frozen Royalty Audio: Backman, Gravel, Stothers After Ontario Reign Drop Game 1 To Lake Erie, 4-3

ONTARIO, CA — After taking a 1-0 lead early in the second period, the Ontario Reign gave up three straight goals in a span of just 2:36 and ended up dropping a 4-3 decision to the Lake Erie Monsters in Game 1 of the American Hockey League’s Western Conference Finals at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California on May 21.

In that fateful second period, Reign forward Sean Backman opened the scoring on a one-timer from left point on the power play at 4:23. But the Monsters came right back with three quick goals, first by Lukas Sedlak at 7:10, Josh Anderson at 8:23 on the power play, and Ryan Craig at 9:46, giving the Monsters a 3-1 lead, leaving the Reign stunned.

The Reign made a valiant effort in the third period, with Los Angeles Kings prospects Nic Dowd and Joel Lowry scoring at 1:38 and 8:16, respectively, but it was too little, too late after their second period snooze.
