LOS ANGELES — Marian Gaborik scored at 13:38 of the first period, and Tyler Toffoli scored a breakaway goal at 16:20 of the second period to help lead the Los Angeles Kings to a 2-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche at Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday night.
The Kings were the better team for most of the first period, and throughout the rest of the game. They wound up outshooting the Avalanche, 40-23.
Jonathan Quick started his fifth straight game for the Kings, stopping 22 shots.
Reto Berra made 38 saves in goal for the Avalanche.
