What many may not be aware of is that many Stanley Cup-winning teams give some of their staff who fans never see or hear about their time with the Stanley Cup as well, and that includes the Los Angeles Kings.
One such Kings staffer is video coordinator Bill Gurney, who has worked for the team for 36 years, dating back to when the Kings played at The Forum in Inglewood, California.
Gurney, and his wife, Tina, celebrated with the Stanley Cup and about 200 others at their home in September 2012, after the Kings won their first Stanley Cup Championship in what was then their 45-year history. They did so again on September 28, 2014, celebrating the team’s second Stanley Cup Championship in the last three seasons.
For more on Bill, stories about his time with the Kings, comments from one of the Keepers of the Cup, Mike Bolt, and photos from the 2012 celebration, check out: LA Kings: Stanley Cup Is A “Rock Star” That Everybody Has To Celebrate.
This time, Bill and Tina invited Frozen Royalty to be present when the Stanley Cup arrived, well before everyone else was scheduled to arrive. You can see the effect that the most revered trophy in sports has on the person who gets to spend time with it when they first get to see it, along with some lighter moments, in a short video below. There are also 159 photos from the event by photographer David Sheehan for you to view.

I’m taking my photo with the Cup tomorrow here in Colorado Springs. Can’t wait.
