EL SEGUNDO, CA — On September 14, 2014, despite the scorching heat, the Los Angeles Kings hosted their annual HockeyFest at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo, California.
Over 1,500 fans were estimated to have attended the event where fans, who lined up as early as 3:45 AM, got the opportunity to get a photograph with the Stanely Cup, hear from team executives and coaches about what was going on with the team and where it is headed, the ever-popular Kids Press Conference, games and other activities for children, a hockey clinic for children, and much more.
The Kings’ annual Rookie Camp for their young prospects, which began on September 12, was part of the day. HockeyFest attendees had the opportunity to see the rookies skate in drills in a morning session, and then play a scrimmage in the afternoon.
Kings alumni, including Rob Blake, Daryl Evans, Jim Fox, Luc Robitaille, Charlie Simmer and others closed out the festivities in an alumni game against players from the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Photographer David Sheehan was present for a portion of the day’s events (unfortunately, he was unable to be there for the morning events) and captured some great images from the day, which you can view below.
