EL SEGUNDO, CA — As any member of the local media who covers the Los Angeles Kings on a fairly regular basis will tell you, interviewing head coach Darryl Sutter is often quite the adventure.

Although he is certainly not the most forthcoming National Hockey League head coach, and even though he does, in his own, calculated way, use the media to send messages to his players—every coach does, to some extent—Sutter has a very good rapport with the local media, and every so often, his sense of humor makes an appearance, as it did following the team’s November 5 practice.

When Daily Breeze reporter Elliott Teaford asked Sutter about scheduling days off for the team, Sutter answered the question, and quite well, I might add. But while doing so, he turned the tables on Teaford in rather humorous fashion, surprising the rest of us involved in that media scrum interview.

I cannot do justice to what Sutter did, so I’ll just leave it to you to watch the video below. Also included is the media scrum interview with goaltender Jonathan Quick, also following the November 5 practice.
