LA Kings Announce 2010-11 Pre-Season and Regular Season Schedules

NEW YORK AND EL SEGUNDO, CA — On June 22, the Los Angeles Kings and the National Hockey League released their 2010-11 regular season schedule.

The Kings open the season at Vancouver on October 9, 2010, before their home opener against the Atlanta Thrashers on October 12.

October may prove to be a tough way for the Kings to start the new season, with just four games at Staples Center and seven on the road.

The Kings will look to take full advantage of home cooking in January, as they play ten out of 13 games at Staples Center.

Milking those ten home games for all they are worth will be critical because in February, the schedule does a complete 180 degree turn on them.

Indeed, February looks to be a make-it-or-break-it month for the Kings who will have to endure a ten-game road trip starting on February 1 at Minnesota. Although there is a four-day break after they play at Calgary on February 5, 2011, they will still have six more games on the road swing.

The only “relief” the Kings will get on that long road trip, other than the aforementioned four-day break, is that the last game will be just down the road at Anaheim on February 23.

The Kings also announced their pre-season schedule, which includes two games at Staples Center and the popular “Frozen Fury” game in Las Vegas.

The Phoenix Coyotes skate into Staples Center on Thursday, September 23, 2010 (7:30 PM PDT) in split-squad action. The two teams also face-off in Glendale, Arizona that same night.

The Kings skate against the Anaheim Ducks on September 28 (7:30 PM), also at Staples Center.

The annual Frozen Fury game against the Colorado Avalanche is scheduled for Saturday, October 2, starting at 8:00 PM at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, part of the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
