EL SEGUNDO, CA — On April 15, the Los Angeles Kings and USA Hockey announced that right wing Dustin Brown and defensemen Jack Johnson and Peter Harrold will represent the United States at the 2009 IIHF World Championships, scheduled for April 24 – May 10 in Switzerland.
Brown, 24, scored 24 goals and contributed 29 assists for 53 points in 80 games while ranking third in the National Hockey League with 285 hits. The native of Ithaca, New York was also named the team’s most valuable player for the 2008-09 season.
Brown also played for Team USA at the 2008 World Championships. He also represented the United States in the World Championships in 2006 and 2004 (won the bronze medal) and at the 2003 and 2002 World Junior Championships.
Johnson, 22, scored six goals and added five assists for eleven points in 41 games with the Kings this season after missing 41 games after undergoing surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder early in the season.
Johnson, who hails from Indianapolis, Indiana, also represented the United States at the 2007 World Championships, the 2007 World Junior Championships (won the bronze medal), the 2006 World Junior Championships (named to the All-Tournament team), the 2005 World Junior Under-18 championships (won the gold medal), the 2005 Five Nations Tournament (U.S. Under-18 Team; won the gold medal, the 2004 World Junior Under-18 championships (won the silver medal), the Compuware Four Nations Cups (won the gold medal and at the 2004 World Junior Under-17 Hockey Challenge.
Harrold, 25, scored four goals and added eight assists for twelve points in 69 games with the Kings this season. The native of Kirtland Hills, Ohio has never played for Team USA.
