Jonathan Quick Named NHL First Star of the Week

NEW YORK — On February 9, the National Hockey League named Los Angeles Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick as their First Star of the Week for the week ending February 8.

Quick posted three straight wins on the road at Ottawa, Washington and New Jersey, and has helped lead the Kings to their current 6-1-1 hot streak over their last eight games.

During the three-game stretch last week, Quick stopped 95 shots, earning a stellar .950 save percentage. He earned his third shutout of the season at Ottawa on February 3.

The 23-year-old native of Milford, Connecticut is 10-6-0 on the season with a 2.38 goals-against average and a .920 save percentage in eighteen games. He ranks third among NHL goaltenders in wins behind Steve Mason of the Columbus Blue Jackets (19) and Pekka Rinne of the Nashville Predators (14).

Marian Hossa of the Detroit Red Wings was named as the Second Star of the Week while Washington Capitals defenseman Mike Green was the third star.
