Los Angeles Kings Down To 36 on Training Camp Roster

EL SEGUNDO, CA — On September 29, the Los Angeles Kings narrowed down their training camp roster to 36 players.

Assigned to the Manchester Monarchs (American Hockey League):

Paul Crosty – D
Vladimir Dravecky – RW
Gabe Gauthier – C
Bud Holloway – LW
Josh Kidd – D
Trevor Lewis – C
Brady Murray – LW
Marty Murray – C
Scott Parse – RW
Daniel Taylor – G
Eric Werner – D
Jeff Zatkoff – G

The Kings also returned defenseman Mike D’Orazio to his junior team, the Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League.

The Kings are down to 21 forwards, 11 defensemen and four goaltenders in their 2008-09 training camp.

  1. Not surprised with Zatkoff and Taylor, but I thought we would see a little more of Bernier. Not surprised by any of the D. We have too many centers so nothing there. This may have been Brady’s last chance.

    Good luck to them all. I expect to see a few of them back.

  2. Am I to understand that Kevin Westgarth, Oscar Moller, and Wayne Simmonds have all made the team? I’d like to see Westgarth / Boyle / Ivanans on the ice at once… they wouldn’t score many points but would be fearsomely huge… just some random musings on the eve of the season…

  3. OK, jumped the gun on my previous post… got my information sources and my timeline all mixed up. Westgarth evidently did get sent down to Manchester, a move which neither surprises nor disappoints me. Disappointed that Teddy Purcell did not acquit himself better in training camp, resulting in him getting sent down to Manchester. I maintain that this will be a fun bunch of guys to watch, even though the team will not win many games.
