PROSPECTS SIGNED: Ersberg signs two-way deal

On July 16, the Los Angeles Kings re-signed forwards Gabe Gauthier and Matt Moulson, defenseman Joe Piskula and goaltender Erik Ersberg to new contracts.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

The most prominent of the signings is Ersberg, 26, who was quite solid in fourteen games with the Kings at the end of last season, earning a 6-5-3 record with a 2.40 goals-against average (GAA), a .927 save percentage and two shutouts.

Ersberg was originally signed by the Kings on May 31, 2007. Frozen Royalty has confirmed that his new contract, a one-year deal, is a two-way contract valued at $700,000 at the National Hockey League level and less at the minor league level.

Gauthier, 24, was signed to a two-year contract. In three games with the Kings last season, he did not register a point. He spent most of the season at Manchester where he scored 23 goals with 37 assists for 60 points in 61 regular seasons games.

The 5-9, 205-pound native of Torrance, California also played in three playoff games for the Monarchs.

Gauthier was originally signed by the Kings on July 7, 2006.

Moulson, 24, was signed to a one-year contract after scoring 28 goals with 28 assists for 56 points with 29 penalty minutes in 57 regular season games with Manchester.

In four playoff games, the 6-1, 210-pound native of North York, Ontario scored two goals.

Moulson, who was originally selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the ninth round (263rd overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, also played in 22 games with the Kings last season, scoring five goals with four assists for nine points with four penalty minutes.

He was originally signed by the Kings on September 1, 2006.
