EL SEGUNDO, CA — Before they left town for Calgary, the Los Angeles Kings held an optional skate on December 28.

Frozen Royalty was there, and I spoke with Tyler Toffoli, Trevor Lewis, Anze Kopitar and assistant coach Davis Payne.

Due to technical difficulties, video of the interview with Kopitar is not available.

Frozen Royalty Video: Kopitar, Lewis, McBain and Sutter After LA Kings Down Coyotes, 4-2

LOS ANGELES — Jeff Carter, Marian Gaborik, Alec Martinez and Trevor Lewis scored goals and Anze Kopitar pitched in with three assists to lead the Los Angeles Kings to a 4-2 victory over the Arizona Coyotes during a matinee affair at Staples Center on December 20.

The Kings scored two power play goals on five chances with the man advantage, and they denied the Coyotes on all three of their power play opportunities.

Frozen Royalty Video: Lewis, Pearson, Brown and Sutter Interviews After LA Kings 3-2 Win Over Carolina

LOS ANGELES — Jarret Stoll, Trevor Lewis and Tanner Pearson scored goals, while Jonathan Quick stopped 25 shots to lead the Los Angeles Kings to a 3-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes at Staples Center in Los Angeles on November 20.

Jeff Skinner and Eric Staal scored for Carolina. Cam Ward took the loss in goal, stopping 36 shots.

Frozen Royalty Audio/Video: Lewis, Martinez and Sutter Off-Day Interviews, November 5, 2014

EL SEGUNDO, CA — On November 5, the Los Angeles Kings held an optional skate and most players stayed off the ice, choosing to work out off the ice and recover from their five-game road trip.

Quick One-Timer On LA Kings Defenseman Jake Muzzin

LOS ANGELES — In case you haven’t noticed, and by all indications, many still haven’t, or worse, refuse to do so, Los Angeles Kings defenseman Jake Muzzin has taken some huge leaps forward, in terms of his play, during the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

I wrote about that on May 23, explaining the reasons that the vast majority of criticism hurled at him is unwarranted (see Contrary To Popular Belief, LA Kings’ Jake Muzzin Is Becoming A Solid NHL Defenseman).

After that story was published, Muzzin went on to play what was, arguably, the best game of his career, earning the second star of the game in the Kings’ 5-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 4 of the 2014 Western Conference Final on May 26 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
