LA Kings Sign Defenseman Jacob Muzzin; Activate Jarret Stoll From Injured Reserve

EL SEGUNDO, CA — On January 4, the Los Angeles Kings signed unrestricted free agent defenseman Jacob Muzzin to a three-year, entry level contract. They also activated center Jarret Stoll from injured reserve.

Muzzin, 20, is the captain of the Sault Ste. Marie (Soo) Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League. In 37 games this season, the 6-2, 216-pound native of Woodstock, Ontario has scored ten goals and has added 36 assists for 46 points (leading the OHL in overall scoring by defensemen) with 58 penalty minutes.

Last season, Muzzin was named to the OHL Western Conference All Star Team.

In four seasons with the Greyhounds, Muzzin has scored 23 goals and has contributed 74 assists for 97 points in 203 regular season games. In 23 playoff games, he has a goal and seven assists for eight points. Read more of this post

Wayne Simmonds Turns Heads Again, But Size Could Be A Problem

EL SEGUNDO, CA — Wiry but rugged right wing Wayne Simmonds turned a lot of heads at the Los Angeles Kings’ 2007-08 training camp after being selected in the second round (61st overall) of the 2008 National Hockey League Entry Draft. Almost one year later, he turned heads again at the team’s annual Development Camp last month.

Standing out at the camp comes as no surprise, given Simmonds’ performance in training camp last season as well as his improvement in junior hockey. Read more of this post
