Southern California NHL Players Help Make Charity Hockey Game In Anaheim A Big Hit

ANAHEIM, CA — With National Hockey League players idled by a lockout that is now in its 92nd day, and with no end in sight, some Southern California players decided to put some of their unwanted spare time to good use on December 14, 2012, when they skated in a charity game at The Rinks – Anaheim Ice, benefitting the Jr. Ducks Pee Wee AAA team (11 and 12-year olds), and Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC).

Tickets Still Available For NHLPA Charity Hockey Game Benefitting LA Jr. Kings and Twin Peaks Cancer Foundation

EL SEGUNDO, CA — Tickets are still available, but are going fast, for the National Hockey League Players Association Charity Hockey Game and Auction on Friday, November 9, 2012, benefitting the LA Jr. Kings (PW AAA 2000, and the Twin Peaks Cancer Foundation, played at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo, California. Game time is 7:00 PM.

Autographed merchandise will be auctioned, including pucks, sticks, and game-worn jerseys. You can also bid on a chance to coach one of the teams.

“The Twin Peaks Cancer Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to supporting breast cancer education, early detection and research,” the foundation stated in a press release. “Breast cancer affects more than just those diagnosed; it affects spouses, children, family members and friends.”

Dustin Brown: Finalist For NHL Foundation Award

On April 27, Kings right wing and team captain Dustin Brown was named as a finalist for the 12th Annual National Hockey League Foundation Player Award.

The award recognizes an NHL player who applies the core values of hockey—commitment, perseverance and teamwork—to enrich the lives of people in his community.

This is the second consecutive year Brown has been nominated.

The winner will be announced on Wednesday, June 23, during the 2010 NHL Awards. Buffalo Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller and Washington Capitals defenseman Mike Green are the other two finalists.
