EL SEGUNDO, CA — Down 2-0 in their first round playoff series against the St. Louis Blues, the Los Angeles Kings, for the most part, took the time to rest up for Saturday’s Game 3 at Staples Center (7:00 PM PDT; televised locally on Fox Sport West), although some players skated.

With the exception of Dustin Penner, the players who spoke to the media on Friday did not skate, including Rob Scuderi, Jarret Stoll, and Mike Richards. Head coach Darryl Sutter also spoke to the media, and Frozen RoyaltyNHL on YouTube is the only source for the full interview with Sutter.

St. Louis Blues Present A Different Challenge For LA Kings This Time Around

LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Kings qualified for the 2013 post-season party as the fifth seed in the Western Conference, and will face the St. Louis Blues in the first round, with Game 1 in St. Louis tonight (5:00 PM PDT, televised in Southern California on Prime Ticket).

In fact, the Blues are likely to give the Kings a serious run for the money, and they have a good chance of winning the series, even though the Kings dominated the Blues in head-to-head competition during the regular season, sweeping the three games and outscoring them 14-7 in those contests.

EL SEGUNDO, CA — Not long after newly acquired defenseman Robyn Regehr left the ice following the Los Angeles Kings’ optional skate on April 3, President/General Manager Dean Lombardi came down from his second floor office to hold court with the local media.

As it usually does, Lombardi’s remarks about the trade ended up being a verbal treatise on building a National Hockey League team in the salary cap era.

Mind you, that is not a complaint. Far from it. In fact, Lombardi’s comments are almost always pure gold, given the information and detail he provides.
