EL SEGUNDO, CA — With the Los Angeles Kings having been so keenly focused on amateur scouting and drafting young players since Dean Lombardi took over as President/General Manager on April 21, 2006, the team now has a stable full of talented prospects.

Indeed, no matter what position you look at, the Kings have skilled, young players who are developing in Canadian junior leagues, in collegiate hockey, and at the Kings’ primary minor league affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League.

On the offensive side of the ledger, the Kings have a few forward prospects who lit up Canadian junior hockey, finishing among the top scorers in their respective leagues, if not leading all junior leagues in scoring. Read more of this post

LOS ANGELES — The top prospects in the 2010 National Hockey League Entry Draft have been here in Los Angeles for the past couple of days, soaking in the atmosphere and local color.

Indeed, they got the grand tour of Hollywood, including the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Grauman’s Chinese Theatre and the Hollywood Wax Museum on June 23.

Later that day, they attended the Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim game at Anaheim Stadium where they met legendary former Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda and took batting practice before the game. Read more of this post

LOS ANGELES — Just about every year at the National Hockey League Entry Draft, there are one or two players who stand out above all the rest, considered to be the top prizes in that year’s draft class. Indeed, the 2010 class is no exception, with forwards Taylor Hall and Tyler Seguin considered to be the cream of the crop.

Hall and Seguin are locks to be selected with the first and second picks (Edmonton has the first selection and Boston owns the second overall pick) at the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, which begins with the first round on Friday, June 25, 2010, at Staples Center in Los Angeles (4:00 PM PDT). After that, the draft is often one big crapshoot in terms who gets selected after that, and that will be the case once again this year. Read more of this post
