EL SEGUNDO, CA — Los Angeles Kings defenseman Matt Greene, who is recovering from surgery to repair a herniated disc in his back, participated in his second full practice with contact on April 17, at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo, California.

Greene indicated that when he might return to the lineup is entirely in the hands of head coach Darryl Sutter.

now, and is getting closer to returning to the lineup.

EL SEGUNDO, CA — After their “Debacle In Dallas” on April 9, the Los Angeles Kings held meetings and had off-ice workouts on April 10 at their practice facility, the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo, California.

But one player was in his practice gear, skating with assistant coach John Stevens, and that was none other than defenseman Matt Greene, who is recovering from back surgery to repair a herniated disc after playing in the season opener on January 19.

“It felt good,” said Greene. “It’s good to get back out there. It’s good to get off the bike, or whatever else they’re giving you, to get your cardio in. It’s been a welcome relief skating for the last couple weeks. It’s been fun.”

EL SEGUNDO, CA — Not long after newly acquired defenseman Robyn Regehr left the ice following the Los Angeles Kings’ optional skate on April 3, President/General Manager Dean Lombardi came down from his second floor office to hold court with the local media.

As it usually does, Lombardi’s remarks about the trade ended up being a verbal treatise on building a National Hockey League team in the salary cap era.

Mind you, that is not a complaint. Far from it. In fact, Lombardi’s comments are almost always pure gold, given the information and detail he provides.
