Frozen Royalty Audio/Video: Kopitar, Bernier Lead LA Kings To 2-1 Win Over Detroit

LOS ANGELES — Anze Kopitar scored a highlight reel goal at 15:12 of the third period while Jonathan Bernier was stopping 32 shots to lead the Los Angeles Kings to a 2-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings in front of a sell-out crowd of 18,118 fans at Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 27.

The Kings got off to a rather lethargic start, but Bernier was up to the task until Red Wings defenseman Kyle Quincey bounced a shot from the left wing boards off of Bernier’s mask. The puck then fluttered over and behind him, bouncing off his back and into the net at 9:42 of the first period.

LOS ANGELES — Justin Williams, Anze Kopitar, Drew Doughty, Slava Voynov and Jeff Carter scored goals, while Jonathan Quick made 22 saves to lead the Los Angeles Kings to a 5-2 victory over the undermanned, but still dangerous Detroit Red Wings in front of a sell-out crowd of 18,118 fans at Staples Center in Los Angeles on Tuesday night.

Williams, Kopitar, Doughty, and Carter had multi-point games, with a goal and an assist each, while right wing Dustin Brown tallied two assists. Read more of this post

Jonathan Quick Is The Ringleader In LA Kings Theft Of 5-0 Win At Detroit On NHL Video

Last season, the Detroit Red Wings skated into Staples Center in Los Angeles and were dominated by the Los Angeles Kings on January 7, 2010. In fact, the Kings bombarded the Wings with 52 shots in that game, but were absolutely stoned by Detroit netminder Jimmy Howard, who stopped 51 shots to help the Red Wings steal a 2-1 victory.

Frozen Royalty Audio And NHL Video: Michal Handzus Leads LA Kings To Record Ninth Straight Win

LOS ANGELES — During a matinee contest at Staples Center on February 6, the Los Angeles Kings set a franchise record with their ninth consecutive win, coming back from a 3-0 first period deficit to defeat the once mighty Detroit Red Wings, 4-3, in front of a sell-out crowd of 18,118 fans.

As they have many times in Saturday afternoon games, the Kings came out flat, gift-wrapping three goals for the Red Wings in the first period.

Red Wings left wing Henrik Zetterberg opened the scoring at the 8:44 mark, taking a pass from line mate Pavel Datsyuk and, while all alone in front of the net, easily tapped the puck past Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick, who had no chance.

Just sixteen seconds later, Detroit center Valtteri Filppula banked a backhand from the left circle in off of Kings defenseman Sean O’Donnell to give the Red Wings a 2-0 lead. Read more of this post
