LOS ANGELES — With the National Hockey League’s Stadium Series coming to Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on January 25, 2014, where the Los Angeles Kings will host the Anaheim Ducks in one of six outdoor games scheduled this season, something that stands out in all this is the fact that outdoor ice hockey is a completely foreign concept here in Southern California.

Indeed, the fact is that the only outdoor hockey we know here is played on roller skates, or in a pair of tennis shoes in a park, schoolyard, or a neighborhood street.

ANAHEIM — Nick Bonino recorded the first hat trick of his National Hockey League career, rookie and Southern California native Emerson Etem had two assists for the first points of his NHL career, and Bobby Ryan also had two assists to lead the Anaheim Ducks to a 7-4 victory over the Los Angeles Kings at Honda Center in Anaheim on February 2.

LOS ANGELES — The top prospects in the 2010 National Hockey League Entry Draft have been here in Los Angeles for the past couple of days, soaking in the atmosphere and local color.

Indeed, they got the grand tour of Hollywood, including the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Grauman’s Chinese Theatre and the Hollywood Wax Museum on June 23.

Later that day, they attended the Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim game at Anaheim Stadium where they met legendary former Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda and took batting practice before the game. Read more of this post
