Frozen Royalty Video: Carter, Quick Lead LA Kings Over Oilers, 4-1; Kopitar’s Mock Anger Caught On Video

LOS ANGELES — Jeff Carter scored a goal and added an assist, and Jonathan Quick made 23 saves to lead the Los Angeles Kings to a 4-1 victory over the sluggish Edmonton Oilers in front of a sell-out crowd of 18,118 fans at Staples Center in Los Angeles during a matinee affair on April 6.

Mike Richards opened the scoring just 1:38 into the first period when he took a pass from Carter after a solid forechecking shift. Wide open in the slot, Richards fired a one-timer that beat Oilers goaltender Devyn Dubnyk just inside the left goal post.

Hockey In Southern California Would Be A Shell Of Its Current Self Without Dr. Jerry Buss

LOS ANGELES — As has been reported across the Los Angeles area, Dr. Jerry Buss, owner of the National Basketball Association’s Los Angeles Lakers, died on February 18, due to complications of cancer, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Buss was 80 years old.

“Dr. Buss was our partner, our mentor and our friend,” said President and Chief Executive Officer of the Anschutz Entertainment Group Tim Leiweke, who also serves as Governor of the Los Angeles Kings. “He was kind enough to allow us into his world, and much of the success we enjoyed at Staples Center and LA Live is directly attributed to him. I do not believe we will ever find anyone quite like him. Our prayers and thoughts are with Jeanie and the entire Buss family.”

LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Kings blew right through the Vancouver Canucks, the St. Louis Blues, and the Phoenix Coyotes, before the New Jersey Devils gave them a bit more to handle in the 2012 Stanley Cup Final. Nevertheless, the Kings won the 2012 Stanley Cup, the first Stanley Cup Championship in the 45-year history of the franchise.
