LA Kings Quick Earns Second Team All-Star Honors; Seven Receive Qualifying Offers

LOS ANGELES — On June 20, Los Angeles Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick added to his list of post-season honors when he was named to the National Hockey League’s Second All-Star Team.

Quick, who was a finalist for the Vezina Trophy, awarded annually to the NHL’s best goaltender during the regular season, lost out to New York Rangers netminder Henrik Lundqvist.

As expected, Lundqvist ran away with the voting, earning 17 votes, while Quick garnered just six. Read more of this post

On Monday night, the Los Angeles Kings actually won two games within hours of each other to open their 2008-09 pre-season action with a 2-1 win over the St. Louis Blues at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, followed by a 6-4 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes at Staples Center in a split-squad doubleheader of sorts.
