ONTARIO, CA — On December 12, 2014, prior to the start of the Los Angeles Kings vs. Montreal Canadiens game at the Bell Centre in Montreal, I was a guest on MontrealHockeyTalk.com’s pre-game show, sharing what’s been happening with the Kings of late with hosts Steven Hindle and Corey Collard.

During the approximately 17-minute interview, we talked about Anze Kopitar’s season-long struggles, the emergence of Brayden McNabb, the strong play of Jake Muzzin, the loss of Slava Voynov, the impact of Darryl Sutter, and more.

EL SEGUNDO, CA — Things have begun to look up for the Los Angeles Kings over the last three weeks, as the team has shown signs of pulling all aspects of their game together.

In their last nine games, the Kings are 6-2-1, with wins over Anaheim, Florida, Carolina, Minnesota, Boston and Arizona during that span, along with regulation losses to Dallas and Chicago, and a shootout loss to Nashville.

Doing his part to contribute towards the Kings’ recent rise has been rookie defenseman Brayden McNabb, who has contributed eight assists in those nine games, and has tallied at least one assist in six of their last eight.

Prior to that, McNabb recorded just one assist in the first 15 games of the season.

EL SEGUNDO, CA — During their 5-2 victory over the Florida Panthers at Staples Center in Los Angeles on November 18, Los Angeles Kings defenseman Matt Greene did something he had never done before.

Greene scored a goal, something he has done before, but isn’t exactly a regular occurrence for him (his last goal was scored on October 19, 2013, a 5-2 win over the Dallas Stars at Staples Center, an empty-net goal). But even though this was not his first career National Hockey League goal, this time, Greene scored on a deflection/re-direction in front of the net, something he said that he has never done before.

Indeed, Greene is a stay-at-home defenseman who virtually never jumps up into the play, so what on Earth was he doing in front of the net?

EL SEGUNDO, CA — Heading into Thursday’s game against the Buffalo Sabres (7:30 PM PDT, Staples Center), the Los Angeles Kings got some much-needed good news, that defenseman Jake Muzzin had been cleared to play by doctors after being examined on October 21.

Muzzin, who has not played yet this season, was suffering from an upper body injury.

“It’s exciting,” he said. “I’m good to go. I got cleared, and I’m excited for tomorrow night. It’s not 100 percent, but it’s good to go.”
