LOS ANGELES — On the first day of the 2010 National Hockey League Entry Draft, held at Staples Center in Los Angeles, June 25-26, 2010, the Los Angeles Kings stepped out of their well-established comfort zone by selecting prospects who had the potential to make it to the NHL level later rather than sooner.

The second day was no different than Friday’s first round (see A Sign Of Progress For LA Kings: 2010 First Round Pick Derek Forbort), as the Kings continued to roll the dice in rounds 2-7 on four prospects who will need significant development time.

Los Angeles Kings Announce 2010 Development Camp Details

EL SEGUNDO, CA — On June 23, the Los Angeles Kings announced that their 2010 Development Camp for their prospects will take place at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo, California, starting on June 28. On-ice sessions that are open to the public will begin on June 30 and run through July 2. Read more of this post

LA Kings Sign Forward Prospect Brandon Kozun

EL SEGUNDO, CA — On April 3, the Los Angeles Kings signed forward Brandon Kozun to a three-year entry level contract.

Kozun scored 32 goals and added 75 assists for 107 points in 65 regular season games this season with the Calgary Hitmen, leading the Western Hockey League in points and assists.

The 5-9, 180-pound native of Los Angeles has scored four goals and has contributed ten assists for fourteen points with the Hitmen in the WHL playoffs, which are ongoing.

The Hitmen have advanced to the second round and will face Medicine Hat. Read more of this post
