Frozen Royalty To Provide In-Depth Coverage From Los Angeles Kings 2011 Development Camp

EL SEGUNDO, CA — The Stanley Cup Finals are over, the July 1 unrestricted free agent frenzy is a fading memory, and Independence Day in the United States has come and gone. By now, hockey addicts are usually in desperate need of a fix, and reruns of National Hockey League playoff games from last season on the NHL Network just won’t cut it.

So what do you do?

If you are in the Los Angeles area, the Los Angeles Kings will host their annual Development Camp for their young prospects, with on-ice sessions taking place on July 11-12, 2011, at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo, California, their practice facility.

Here is the schedule for July 11 and 12:

Monday, July 11:

Group A – Practice, 8:00-9:15 AM
Game – 9:30-10:30 AM
Group B – Practice, 10:45-Noon

Tuesday, July 12:

Group B – Practice, 8:00-9:15 AM
Game – 9:30-10:30 AM

LOS ANGELES — Back in the spring of 2008, defenseman prospect Alec Martinez had just finished his third year at Miami University (Ohio) and had put his John Hancock on a three-year, entry-level contract with the Los Angeles Kings.

EL SEGUNDO, CA — The Los Angeles Kings rid themselves of the sloth-like skating and one-bad-penalty-after-another performances by left wing enforcer Raitis Ivanans when they passed on signing him to a new contract this past summer.

That left the enforcer spot open, and it is all but a foregone conclusion that 6-4, 228-pound right wing Kevin Westgarth will be promoted from the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, the Kings’ primary minor league affiliate. Read more of this post
