LA Kings Rookie LW Tanner Pearson Might Be The Odd Man Out…For Now

EL SEGUNDO, CA — Despite getting off to a blistering hot start to the 2014-15 National Hockey League season, it appears that rookie left wing Tanner Pearson is headed for a seat in the press box when the Los Angeles Kings host the Carolina Hurricanes on November 20, at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The reason: after scoring seven goals and adding two assists for nine points, with a +9 plus/minus rating and two penalty minutes in the first eight games of the season, Pearson has recorded just one assist, with a +2 plus/minus rating and six penalty minutes in the Kings’ last eleven games.

EL SEGUNDO, CA — During their 5-2 victory over the Florida Panthers at Staples Center in Los Angeles on November 18, Los Angeles Kings defenseman Matt Greene did something he had never done before.

Greene scored a goal, something he has done before, but isn’t exactly a regular occurrence for him (his last goal was scored on October 19, 2013, a 5-2 win over the Dallas Stars at Staples Center, an empty-net goal). But even though this was not his first career National Hockey League goal, this time, Greene scored on a deflection/re-direction in front of the net, something he said that he has never done before.

Indeed, Greene is a stay-at-home defenseman who virtually never jumps up into the play, so what on Earth was he doing in front of the net?

LOS ANGELES — Matt Greene, Jeff Carter, Marian Gaborik and Robyn Regehr scored second-period goals to lead the Los Angeles Kings to a 5-2 win over the Florida Panthers on November 18 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Prior to the game, the Kings presented defenseman Willie Mitchell, a member of their 2012 and 2014 Stanley Cup Championship teams, with his 2014 Stanley Cup ring.
