LOS ANGELES — Like they did after the raised their 2012 Stanley Cup Championship banner, the Los Angeles Kings came out flat after they raised their 2014 Stanley Cup Championship banner on October 8, 2014 at Staples Center in Los Angeles, where the San Jose Sharks made easy work of the Kings in a 4-0 win.

Whether or not the Kings were distracted by the festivities may never be known—they denied that after the game. In any case, they were flat and not close to being in synch, making it easy for the Sharks to pick them apart.

Frozen Royalty caught up with defenseman Alec Martinez, winger Dustin Brown and head coach Darryl Sutter after the game. You can also listen to a “state of the league” press conference with National Hockey League Commissioner Gary Bettman, and see a quick video of the Kings 2014 Stanley Cup banner being raised.

EL SEGUNDO, CA — The Los Angeles Kings have finished their 2014-15 pre-season schedule, they have closed up shop on training camp, and after all the ice chips settled, there will be no surprises whatsoever on their 2014-15 opening night roster, which will be released later today.

But as previously reported in this space, both were a lock to make the Kings’ opening night roster, making the “question” pretty much a moot point.

LA Kings Blue Liner Jake Muzzin Is Starting To Look And Sound Like An NHL Veteran

Los Angeles Kings defenseman Jake Muzzin

EL SEGUNDO AND LOS ANGELES, CA — Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past four months, you know that the Los Angeles Kings won the 2014 Stanley Cup Championship last June.

The Kings spent this past summer enjoying the fruits of their labor, celebrating their second Stanley Cup win in the last three seasons, and like the rest of his teammates, defenseman Jake Muzzin got to spend a day with hockey’s version of the Holy Grail.

“This summer was an exciting one, that’s for sure,” said the 25-year-old, 6-3, 213-pound native of Woodstock, Ontario. “It was pretty busy. We had a lot going on. The day with the Cup was pretty special.”

“We did a lot,” added Muzzin. “I was a busy man that day. We brought it to both sides of the family, my Mom’s side and my Dad’s side. We had a parade through Woodstock, we had a key to the city ceremony, I signed [autographs for] the public for two-and-a-half hours or so, we had a reunion with the old team I played with in Woodstock, and we had a party that night.”
