New On KingsCast: LA Kings Hockey Fest ’11 to Feature Brandon Convery! Wait..Who?

Here is a bit of a change of pace from KingsCast…

Guest blogger Dan Goodkin, a long-time fan of the Los Angeles Kings, took one look at the Kings alumni scheduled to attend HockeyFest ’11, this Sunday, September 11, 2011, at Staples Center, and was, to put it mildly, underwhelmed.

I still believe Doughty will get signed before training camp, unfortunately for every team in the Western Conference. Per Nick Kypreos Doughty’s camp recently rejected a nine-year deal for 6.8M per year, but I think he’s just holding out for a shorter deal. If Dean Lombardi drops that from nine to seven years or so I think that will do the trick.

As for hockeyfest, Keith, just hearing about how Heidi Androl won’t be doing the sideline reporting makes me want to write a whole blog about it too. That’s what your blog was about, right? Just kidding. But yeah I think once hockey season starts everyone will be able to stop worrying about things like hockeyfest. I’m sure it’s fun in kings land but it’s not hockey. The state of the union address by Lombardi should be interesting, though.

I agree about Brandon Convery. I’m sure he’s a nice guy but he played only 3 games. Plus the fact that Ian Turnbull and Mark Hardy didn’t even show up was kind of a pisser. I did, however, get my puple and gold jersy signed 3 more times which was good.
The Kings also didn’t allow enough time for autographs from the current players. I don’t want to see anyone get carpal tunnel syndrome but just 1 hour for all the people who showed up to support the team? I think the team forgot why they have a pep rally. Plus it sold out and could have sold many more tickets based on Hockey Fest 1. We fans were not respected enough.
What I would like to see if Marcel, Rogie, Charlie Simmer and some of the older purple and gold show up.
Although I’ve never been a season ticket holder, I HAVE been following the Kings closely since 1968-69 season and I would have expected more from them.
