Let’s put it this way…it takes at least an hour to transcribe 10 minutes of a Lombardi interview. But yes, it’s totally worth it.

How long is it taking you to plow through Dean’s speech patterns? It took me more than four hours to transcribe a one-hour interview a couple of summers ago (though the result was worth it)…

I think the reason Lombardi kept coming back to acquiring Smyth is that it’s one thing to tell a player how to be a pro and deal with expectations, but it goes much further if they see a teammate showing them the way. Everything I’ve heard about Smyth – the way he practices, the way he goes hard to the net every shift – those are the kinds of lessons that will stay with Kopitar long after Smyth is gone. I think that Kopitar’s the sort to rise to the challenge now that he’s seen what it takes to break into the elite level of players in the NHL.

just a question of curiosity gann and then i will leave u alone for the night…. if u dont answer ill read your answer tomorrow or whenever u get around to it … but ill wait a lil longer right now to see if you answer now ……. my question is ….. what are you doing while u are kind of talking to me on here …… what i mean is are u a regular guy doing like household stuff and talking at the same time or are u always busy 24/7 doing something thats relating to this blog ………… since i have no idea how these sites work, i have no idea how much time goes into it for you ………………… and if u never answer this question ever, thats fine also of course …. but i was just thinking, i wonder what gann is actually doing while we are having a semi conversation

i figured since this was a new thread i would forego the week absense as previously promised ………. its just that i couldnt think of anything to write about regarding this story …… kopitar is a great two way center … leaning more toward defense ….. and thats all hes ever going to be in my opinion …… dosent have enough skill to ever become a superstar …. but i love his two way strong play and think that is invaluable and agree with lombardi that i dont want him going anywhere, ever ….. strong two way centers are very hard to come by ……… of course if we ever got a kovulchuk or gaborik to play with him his numbers would go up of course and he would become a better offensive player …. but just as long as everybody knows , its because of the other superstar why his offensive numbers would go up …. at least im on topic now …. lol

penner having a career year, the oilers are raving about him , jim fox as well ….. imagine if your the oilers and all we are offering is a prospect goalie straight up …. i think your undervaluing penner …… but yea your right, this is not the right thread for such banter …. see, i can become a pest

True. But you lost me at trading Bernier and an first round pick for Penner…or even Bernier for Penner straight up.

Penner isn’t worth that much.

kovulchuk dosent come for free man … u have to give to get ……. and trades should work for everybody … not just us ….. in my opinion, for us its brown for kovulchuk and ill take that anyday …… ill sacrafice a number 1 pick to get him and also bernier …… weve already got quick … with zatkoff looking stellar ….. no confidense in quick gann …. i like him alot …. i dont believe anybody is going to take the number one job from him …. he comes out of the net a lil too far for me which i dont like, but every other aspect of his game i feel is outstanding …. but whatever, its fine we disagree , just having some fun

okay i think u are saying bernier and a number 1 is too much ….. just penner for bernier straight up …. but i dont think the oilers would go for that …… bernier is unproven, so i think it wouold take the first rounder as well , because penner is a very good player … the only good player the oilers have now that hemsky is gone

however this is contingent on resigning frolov (get it done dean) , his board play is invaluable and he deserves 5 million …….. and of course signing kovolchuk to the big deal to lock him up ……… also keeping kovulchuk happy that we kept his russian buddy frolov …… i think this can all just barely fit under the cap, even with frolovs raise of a million bucks, because odonnels contract will be leaving us in the summer ….. anyways, who knows, just thinking out loud here for fun ….. and yea the chances to do a sign and trade deal with kovulchuk are probably slim (hes salivating at the july 1st date) …. but just having some fun

You can stop at Dustin Penner for Bernier, a goaltender with elite skills (doesn’t mean he will become an elite goalie) AND a number one pick. That’s crazy.

okay gann ….. my proposed trade just for fun …….. oilers need to shed salary ……. although penner is the only guy they want to keep, if we can pry him out of there for bernier and a number 1 pick (since they need a franchise goalie of the future) …. then we turn around and trade brown and penner to atlanta for kovulchuk in a three team trade ….. since we need skill to have the right mix on the kings, this trade could work out for everybody …… so basically wed give up a number 1 pick, bernier and brown for kovulchuk ….. while atlanta gets two quality forwards to offset the loss of kovulchuk ….. and the oilers shed salary, which they are trying to do, get their goalie and a number 1 …… if the trade seems a little too light on the oilers end, i wouldnt mind shipping one of our defensive prospects to the oilers as well to make the trade happen …… hey just having some fun and made this all up myself
