EL SEGUNDO, CA — On January 6, the Los Angeles Kings recalled defenseman Alec Martinez from the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, their primary minor league affiliate, and they placed defenseman Randy Jones on the injured reserve list, retroactive to December 16.
Martinez, 22, has played in two games with the Kings this season, his first in the National Hockey League. The 6-1, 208-pound native of Rochester Hills, Michigan, has also played in 19 games with the Monarchs this season, scoring three goals and adding five assists for eight points with six penalty minutes and a +3 plus/minus rating.
Jones, 28, suffered an upper body injury (an educated guess is that he had a concussion) during the Kings/Edmonton Oilers game on December 15. The 6-2, 200-pound native of Quispamsis, New Brunswick has scored four goals and has added eight assists for twelve points with twelve penalty minutes in eighteen games this season.
