Frozen Royalty Audio and NHL Video: Jonathan Quick Shines Bright In LA Kings’ 2-1 Win Over Chicago

LOS ANGELES — Jonathan Quick was outstanding—he played his best game in goal this season and Wayne Simmonds scored his third goal in the last three games to lead the Los Angeles Kings to a 2-1 shootout win over the high-flying Chicago Blackhawks in front of a sell-out crowd of 18,118 fans at Staples Center on Saturday night.

Anze Kopitar and Jack Johnson scored in the shootout for the Kings, while Quick stopped Blackhawks star forwards Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane.

NOTES: Quick stopped a season high 32 shots in the game. He has also won three straight shootouts, stopping all eight shots faced; Kopitar played in his 200th consecutive game tonight (March 21, 2007 to present); Simmonds now has a career-high three-game goal streak (three goals, one assist for four points) in that span). He now has eight goals and seven assists for fifteen points this season. Last season, Simmonds scored nine goals with fourteen assists for 23 points; Scott Parse has assists in three straight games; Dustin Brown had a season high nine hits in the game; the Kings out-hit Chicago 41-25 in the game; Michael Handzus won 12-of-16 faceoffs (75%); the Kings are 7-0-3 in their last ten home games against Chicago; the Kings 15-10-2 start is tied for the eighth-best 27-game start in franchise history; the Kings are 9-0-0 when leading after two periods.
