LA Kings Netminder Jonathan Quick Named NHL’s Second Star of the Week

[NEW YORK — On October 12, the National Hockey League announced that Los Angeles Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick was named as one of their Three Stars for the week ending October 11.
Named as the NHL’s second star of the week, Quick stopped eighty of 88 shots in posting a 3-0-0 record with a 2.67 goals-against average (GAA) and a .909 save percentage as Los Angeles improved to 3-1-0 and a tie for first place in the Pacific Division.
Quick recorded 25 saves in a 6-4 win over the San Jose Sharks on October 6 and stopped 26 shots in a 6-3 victory over the Minnesota Wild on October 8.
Quick finished the week by making 29 saves as the Kings defeated the St. Louis Blues, 2-1, on October 10.
In 44 appearances with Los Angeles last season, Quick posted a 21-18-2 record with a 2.48 GAA, a .914 save percentage and four shutouts.
Sharks left wing Dany Heatley was named as the first star of the week and Vancouver Canucks center Henrik Sedin was named as the third star.

Hard to believe he was chosen as a star with those stats. The record is respectable enough but he has only recently started looking sharp. I’ll take props the Kings get any day of the week !
