We are lucky in that so many of our players have the potential to be significantly better next season
than this last, even with the growth we saw.

We could ride their "growth spurts" to glory like Chicago did with their guys this year.

Assuming our Royal Bunch puts in the hard work they should in the off-season, we should hear a big, "ker-chunk!" next year, as the team kicks it up a notch in play to a more commanding (i.e PO-bound) level.

I see guys like Simmonds, Doughty, Kopitar, Frolov and Quick and Greene, at the very least, being the core of a whole group who could be noticeably better this season.

DustinB just has to be his usual 25-Goal, 50-60 pt self, hitting & playing his all-round game, Quincey just needs to come back strong by Christmas or so (no rush, good buddy).

And Stoll, Handzus...Just be healthy & the solidness will be there.

A couple of quality rookies competing for spots---Hickey and Voinov on D; TLewis at FW. Good talent there, so who knows...

Time for Boyle and Purcell to put up, or you-know-what. Might be something there.

TM's past record indicates his teams have a trend of INcreasing wins/offense in their 2nd seasons with him at the helm. Let's hope that trend continues with us, bigtime. It could.

With a couple free agent signings (Havlat & Beauchemin would be perfect fits, but we probably won't be so fortunate), we could be formidable.

Even "Lesser" signings like Antropov might help us at least make the POs.

Much still is not known.

But, IMO, there is much reason for hope.

Add a good draft next week, and maybe a nice, helpful trade or 2, and the future could brighten up even more.

Awesome read, thanks! I really the amount of energy they're putting into Bernier pays off. He looked like the real deal during his brief stint with the Kings in 07-08; too bad for him the team was horrible. Then again, given Lombardi's comments, maybe that was for the best. If the team had gotten off to an unbelievable start that year, and made it impossible for them to return him to Junior, his development might have been permanently stunted.

Looking forward to the next installment!

Lombardi hit on some keys, that being the Kings need to continue to improve defensively (goal and defense) while finding a way to score additional goals. I think Kopi, Brownie, and Jus Williams will score a lot more, as will Moller Simmonds. Stoll will find a way to stay healthy the whole season and Frolov will be his consistant self. Ditto for Handzus. The Kings will be much much better, maybe even making their way to playoff land. That of course will hinge on the 'tenders (Quick,Ersberg and Bernier) being better than last season...
