Gann,

How utterly appropriate for you to get this honor. You are top notch in my book, and all I can say is that your honorable recognition is, perhaps, overdue.

I have always been SOOOOO impressed by the professional nature of your articles and I was surprised to get that background information on your “blogging” history on the internet.

You are truly a pioneer, and though we’ve never met, I can firmly state that I feel I “know” you (in a sense) and that as a human being you are one of the “keepers.”

I wish you all the best and hope that, if you want it, you are eventually rewarded for all your hard work with a lucrative writing deal. By the way, kudos to your Composition teacher from Culver City High School, Jenee Gossard.

I really can’t say enough how happy I am to hear that your work is being acknowledged. And, by a legend like Helene.

Gann, I actually moved back to NY in the summer of ’95, and moved back here in the summer of ’00, so I lost you for a while, but somewhere on an old computer, I have a log of some thread where I argued with the idiots who PROMISED me Patrice Tardif would score 30 goals for the Kings ;) … IN A SEASON!

This is great news. I live on the East Coast and nowadays I can catch most of the Kings games with Center Ice. But throughout college your game reports were my main source of Kings news. I’m not sure that I would’ve remained a Kings fan without them. Thanks for the consistently great work.

Congratulations on your membership in the PHWA. It is well deserved. I remember what hockey coverage was like before Helene Elliott arrived on the scene and what a huge improvement her presence made. Finally, someone who knew and cared about hockey was reporting on the Kings on a regular basis. How can fans of my generation not like Helene Elliot?

Times change. What’s left of the L.A. Times now features the Associated Press coverage of the Kings for some HOME GAMES. Gann, your efforts and talent are greatly appreciated and, as we enter this new era, more important than ever to Kings fans.

Gann - A nice retrospective article there which started with a simple love for the Kings and has developed into something worthy of elite media status. Nice of you to remember and acknowledge those who have contributed to your success as a writer. However, even if you had not become recognized as a writing talent and member of the PHWA, it is apparent how much time, effort, and passion you've put into your coverage of the Kings. Even so, you have maintained an objective, non-homerish perspective in your write-ups. Just as the Internet has evolved greatly, so has your work and access. Us regular Kings fans would never have access to the players and coaches. Your post-game audio definitely provides a fresh angle and unparalleled team access for us Kings junkies. For all your accomplishments and what you provide to the Online Kingdom and beyond, I say thank you and congratulations. Your efforts are greatly appreciated and the recognition well-deserved.
