Los Angeles Kings’ Dustin Brown Shines As NHL First Star of the Week

NEW YORK – On January 26, the National Hockey League named Los Angeles Kings right wing Dustin Brown as their First Star of the Week for the week ending January 25, 2009.

Brown scored the game-winning goal in consecutive road games, helping the Kings move within six points of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. He tallied the game-winner, posted a +3 rating and was named the game’s first star in a 5-2 victory at Minnesota on January 20 and notched the winner, an assist and a +1 rating in a 6-5 win at Colorado on January 21.

Brown also recorded an assist for the Western Conference in his first appearance in the NHL All-Star Game on January 25 in Montreal.

Goaltender Cam Ward of the Carolina Hurricanes was selected as the Second Star of the Week while forward Ales Hemsky of the Edmonton Oilers was named as the Third Star.
