While I agree with your statement on Special Teams, I disagree with the terminology. Special Teams SHOULD be the term for any time you use combinations and tactics different from standard 5 on 5. Certainly that non-standard definition would include both teams in a pulled goalie situation and might even be extended to both teams during a delayed penalty.

As a player and defenseman, I know that when a penalty is delayed I look to crash the net (at our level the forwards seldom look to the points during that play). I also know that when the goalie is pulled, I think less about defense and a lot more about creating havok in the offensive zone. If the other team has pulled their goalie and is in our zone I worry about the high slot a little more and soften my outlet passes so that if they don't connect I do not get an icing call. I also know that we try to have specific personnel on during a goaltender pulled situation. That sounds like "special teams" to me.

Doughty played and was effective.

The Wild weren't great, but the Kings also put in a very solid effort. The Kings were the better team overall, at even strength or on special teams.

Actually, special teams only refers to when a team is on the power play or is killing a penalty.

I tried to record the game so I could watch it, but either FSN was blacked out on ATT or I just lost signal.

Did Doughty play? He left early in the St Louis game - if he did play was he effective?

The score indicates a strong defensive game where your game plan overrides the oppositions game plan. Was that your feel or did the Wild just not show up?

Since all goals were during special teams play (pulled goalie is still special teams), what was the overall feel of the 5 on 5?
